Lower Elementary Cultural Presentations

As part of our cultural curriculum, the children in Room 107each studied a different Asian country.

They prepared posters with interesting facts and information and presented them to their classmates and parents. After the presentations were completed, we each sampled dishes prepared by the children and their families from the countries that they studied!

It was an awesome day with equally awesome food!

Thanks to all of the parents who were able to attend!
We are eternally grateful for the opportunity to teach your children!!!

International Festival

The children have diligently been working towards a fun and successful performance for our International Festival on Friday, May 17th starting at 9AM.

The kids will be showcasing music from Hawaii, Japan, India, Croatia, Ireland, France, Kenya and a Native America tribe. I wanted to give a challenge to the Junior High students who do not participate in band by having them accompany every song on either maracas, drums, xylophones or a gong. The other children in EC, LE and UE have also learned simple steps or movements to interpret specific songs being executed.

We are asking the children, parents and visitors to please represent any culture of your choice by wearing certain clothing items to the festival. This could be as simple as a shirt with a flag on it or colors representing a certain nation. We also love to see full-fledge costumes as well. Everyone at TMA is looking forward to this educational, fun and rewarding festival, and we cannot wait to see you there!

A Trip Around the World in 20 Days!

Europe

Our last week of  travel will conclude in Europe. We will begin in France where we will see the Eiffel Tower and read "The Little Prince" while lounging in Monet's garden.

In Great Britain we will be introduced to William Shakespeare and Beatrix Potter over a spot of tea.

On to the Roman Colosseum. We will step back in time to visit ancient Rome and Pompeii.  Enjoy gelato with Leonardo de Vinci and paint with Michelangelo. We could spend a lot of time in Italy but we have to move on to Spain.

In Spain, we will create our own Picasso-like project, discover famous explorers:  Ponce de Leon, Cortez and Magellan. We will wrap up our visit making pico de gallo!

A Trip Around the World in 20 Days!

Australia

The Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean on earth and it is so full of small islands that it is impossible to count them all.  It's easy to find Australia though.  It's the smallest continent but one of the largest countries on Earth.

Join us as we explore Australia.
  •  We will discover strange and funny animals
  •  Create Aboriginal paintings
  •  And dance to the music of a didgeridoo!

Have you ever played a didgeridoo? If not, you are missing out!
